Many of my clients who have been doing their own bookkeeping come to me with one overwhelming feeling: shame. They feel like they should have done a better job with managing Quickbooks.
I understand. Your business becomes very important to you financially and emotionally. It reminds you of the commitment you made to yourself, your family and your customers. The books, “the numbers”, is one of many metrics that can objectively define whether or not you are successful.
As a bookkeeper that was once a business owner, I can see past the numbers. I can figure out if and where mistakes were made and give clients clarity on their numbers to they can make informed decisions, or keep their tax prepared happy.
A shame spiral can happen quickly. You make a few mistakes and don’t know how to correct it. It slides to the back burner in favor of problems you can solve. The confusion leads to avoidance and the books are behind. You feel bad about it which can lead to more avoidance and fear of judgment by anal-retentive bookkeepers.
Because I’ve been there, I get it. It’s ok. When you are ready for judgment-free help with bookkeeping, contact me at Lifestyle Bookkeeping.
